Busy end to 2008

December 24th, 2008 by wavecrest

Despite all the economic doom and gloom Wavecrest Ltd has had a busy last few weeks of 2008.

Usually in the run up to the festive season business begins to tail off as people concentrate on more pleasant matters!

Unlike some of our competitors, Wavecrest’s warehouse  will continue to operate between the Christmas and New Year holidays receiving in import containers and loading out export consignments.

Last week three second hand Ford agricultural tractors were loaded and secured into a 40′ high cube container for export to Thailand.

The tractors were transported from the exporter’s premises to the warehouse on a low loader trailer and then driven up Wavecrest’s purpose built mobile yard ramp into the container.

They were then carefully lashed and secured to prevent movement during the sea transit to Bangkok.

It has not only been the warehouse that has been kept busy.

Wavecrest Ltd provides regular freight forwarding services to Southern and East Africa for vehicles of all descriptions.

There are twice monthly container sailings to Cape Town, Port Elizabeth and Durban with onward connections to Johannesburg and other main towns in South Africa.

Personal effects can be loaded inside the containers with the vehicles subject of course to availability of space.

Vehicles are also shipped on regular roll on roll off services to Durban (at least twice monthly), East London and Port Elizabeth (both currently monthly).

Fortnightly container and roll on roll off services are available to Walvis Bay , Namibia.

A monthly roll on roll off service is operated to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania from Tilbury. This is a direct service with fast transit times.

Ellenor Lions Hospice Emergency Appeal Needs Your Help

December 14th, 2008 by wavecrest

Ellenor Lions Hospice, Northfleet, Kent

The Ellenor Lions Hospice provides specialist palliative or hospice care for people with life shortening illnesses in the Dartford and Gravesham areas of North West Kent and the London Borough of Bexley.

Wavecrest Limited has been a supporter of the Ellenor Lions Hospice for many years.

The Ellenor Lions Hospice has unfortunately been badly affected by the current economic situation and to this end has launched an emergency appeal.

The contents of a letter we received recently are reproduced below -

” I know that we are all thinking of our family and friends as we approach Christmas but please can I ask you to also think about The Ellenor Lions Hospices. The hospice reaches the sick and vulnerable providing hospice care to children and adults in the comfort of their own home as well as hospice care for adults and young people in the state of the art facilities at the Lions Hospice.

The downturn in the economy has hit everyone, including the Ellenor Lions Hospices.  They must raise £200,000 in the next few months to secure current levels of patient care.

The charity cares for around 2,500 families every year, employs over 200 local people and is supported by over 800 volunteers.  Highly trained, skilled and caring staff provide the numerous services offered. These include nursing care both in the home and hospice, respite care – offering families a much needed break in the knowledge that their loved one is being cared for by professionals, complementary therapies, counselling and bereavement support.  All services are given free of charge to patients and their families and it has been possible to do this for over 20 years due to the generous support of the community.

At a recent fundraising event a mother of a young patient stood up in a room of 100 people to share her story. She said
“I can’t tell you what the Shining Lights Team (the Hospice’s children’s team) mean to me – I don’t know how to find the words – they are my sanity, my backbone and my saviours, I really couldn’t do this without them. That is why I appeal to you all to give as much as you can to this VERY deserving charity – the money really saves lives and the sanity of everyone they help – they are my shining lights in a sometimes very dark world.”

Please can you help them to continue to help this and many more families like this. You can donate on line by clicking www.justgiving.com/hospice-emergency-appeal  or call the hot line Tel: 01322 422831.

Please add the Ellenor Lions Hospices to your Christmas list this year.  Whatever your gift, it will make a real difference to the care they are able to give “
